We did a tiny little 1.2km walk to wrap the month. Itโs not all Iโd hoped to be able to do this month, but Iโm learning to accept that chronic illness throws the occasional curve ball. Iโm really thrilled with getting to 93km, and Iโm extremely grateful to everyone who donated to the cause. Thank you everyone ๐ ๐ฉทโค๏ธ๐งก๐๐๐ฉต๐๐
Gus and I are walking 100km for the Burnett Foundation Aotearoa - can you help?
Right now, the world is a pretty dark place for anyone who is different. Targeted misinformation, hate speech and attacks from our own institutions that are reversing all the progress we made towards baseline societal acceptance that we were moving towards.
Growing up, I learned all about safe queer sex (from my rainbow support groups rather than my school teachers, but at least I could learn). I learned about Prep, I watched same sex civil unions and then marriage equality become law. Heck, I even watched drag shows on TV before I was old enough to see them at my local clubs. Things were getting better - more open, more supportive, more accepting and more loving.
And now we see it all moving backwards, driven by hate and deliberate misinformation. Organisations like the Burnett Foundation are doing critical work to ensure our community remain supported, informed and safe.ย
So Gus the Black Russian Terrier and I are gonna do a bunch of walking this month and try to raise some funds to support their incredible work. I'd be so grateful if you could support us and help create a safer and kinder Aotearoa for our whฤnau.ย

Have fallen a little behind with the recent rainfall but hoping to catch up to where we're meant to be this weekend!
We stuck with our usual route today. I think Gus was glad to check in on his usual sniff spots and catch up on the local gossip. He was full energy and Iโm surprised we got as far as we did today! I thought he was gonna be exhausted after yesterday.
