This is my first year sweating

I’m sweating to challenge myself, boost my wellbeing, and support a great cause!

Why I’m Sweating with Pride

I'm taking on Sweat with Pride this June! 💦🌈

Right now, schools, workplaces, and even doctors’ offices aren’t safe for many in our community—and it’s putting lives at risk. LGBTQIA+ Kiwis face higher rates of mental illness, suicide, and STIs like syphilis, mpox, and HIV.

So, I'm fighting discrimination with perspiration—exercising 42 minutes every day in June to raise money for life-changing Rainbow support services.

This cause means the world to me, and I’d be SO grateful if you could chip in to help me reach my goal. Every dollar makes a difference.

Thank you so much for your support! ❤️

Day 12–15: Pickleball, Tennis & a Bit of Self Care 🧖‍♀️🎾🔥

Monday 16 June 2025

Sunday 15 June 2025

Thursday 12 – Sunday 15 June 2025

What a weekend! The past few days have been a whirlwind of sweat, sport, and some much-needed self-care.

Day 12 (Thursday)
The early bird squad just got bigger — my other niece Tara has jumped on the fitspo buzz! 💪 We kicked off the morning with an F45 session (yes, before the sun was up 😅). Love seeing the whānau get involved — it’s been such a boost having that extra support and energy.

Day 13 (Friday)
Took the foot off the pedal and gifted myself a well-earned self-care day. 🧖‍♀️ I took a walk along the Rotorua lakefront (stunning as always), then headed to the Wai Ariki Restorative Journey experience with my friend Wai. Absolute bliss. Saunas, hot pools, cold buckets and mud! — highly recommend if your muscles are as sore as mine have been lately!

Day 14 (Saturday)
Swapped the sweatbands for a paddle and played in a pickleball tournament in Mount Maunganui. Still pretty new to the sport, but had an epic time. A long day, but full of laughs, , and dinks and friendly yet fierce competition.

Day 15 (Sunday)
Back to tennis! Represented Waikato in a regional clash against Rotorua. I may have been called a traitor playing for Waikato haha. Feeling the grind, but loving the journey.

Still sweating for Pride, still fundraising, and still feeling the love — let’s keep it going! 🌈💦🎾

Day 10 & 11: Feeling the Pinch but Still Sweating 💦😅

Wednesday 11 June 2025

Tuesday 10 June & Wednesday 11 June 2025

The grind is starting to kick in! Day 10 hit me hard — definitely felt the pinch waking up. My body’s starting to feel the back-to-back days, but I still managed to smash out a 6:15am online workout to keep the streak alive, and added a 25-minute jog after work to tick off the day’s sweat goal. ✅

By Day 11 (hump day), the mid-week struggle was real — but we pushed through. Early morning jog in the dark, then backed it up with a lunchtime F45 class with my sweat buddy (and MVP) Tyla. Can’t thank her enough for the extra motivation these past couple of days — it’s been a game changer. 💪🌈

The support so far has been incredible — I’m this close to hitting my $1,000 goal, currently sitting at $930 raised! Every bit helps and I’m so grateful for everyone backing me (and my very sore muscles 😅).

Let’s keep sweating for Pride! 🌈💦

Weekend Sweat & Day 9: F45 Tried to Finish Me 😅🍺🎾

Monday 9 June 2025

Monday 9 June 2025

Bit of a weekend wrap-up: I mowed the lawns, hit the pavement for a run, squeezed in some tennis, then earned myself a well-deserved beer. Balance, right? 😅🍻

Day 9 (Monday) — tried F45 for the first time and honestly… I think I saw my life flash before my eyes. That was next-level. Big thanks to my niece Tyla for dragging me through it — I definitely needed the moral support! 💪

We’re now sitting at $700 raised — so close to that $1,000 goal! Every dollar helps.

Still time to donate or share — let’s smash it! 🌈🔥

$645 Raised — New Goal Unlocked! 🎯🏳️‍🌈

Friday 6 June 2025

Friday 6 June 2025

WOW. I originally set a goal of raising $100 — and thanks to all of you, we’ve blown that out of the water! I'm now sitting at $645 raised and honestly feeling so grateful for all the aroha and support that’s come through.

I’ve decided to raise the bar:
🎯 New goal — $1,000

Every dollar goes towards supporting our rainbow communities with vital services like mental health support, youth programmes, and gender-affirming care.

If you’ve been meaning to donate or want to share this with someone who might, now’s the perfect time! Let’s see how far we can go — together. 💖💪🌈

Day 5 & 6: Who Signed Me Up for 42 Minutes a Day?! 😅💦

Friday 6 June 2025

Friday 6 June 2025

Day 5
Okay, real talk — who let me commit to 42 minutes of exercise every day?!
Yesterday had me seriously questioning my life choices 😂 I’m definitely not fit enough (yet!) to run for 42 minutes straight, so I split it up — a jog in the morning and another in the evening. Still sweaty. Still counts.

Day 6 (Today)
Started Friday off strong(ish) with a 6:15am online class with Ōhope Fitness — and yes, Jane Miskell is still annoyingly fit and somehow able to talk while doing burpees. Can’t relate. But I showed up, I sweated, and that’s what counts!

Hoping this rain goes away so I can get a hit of tennis in later today. Fingers crossed.

The soreness is real, but so is the motivation — thanks to all of you backing me and our rainbow communities. Every drop of sweat is for a great cause. 💖🏳️‍🌈

More updates coming soon… once I can walk again 😅

Update: $550 Raised & Still Sweating! 💦🏳️‍🌈

Wednesday 4 June 2025

Quick update from the sweat zone! We’ve now hit $550 in donations and clocked up 375 minutes of sweat — and I still haven’t done today’s workout yet 👀

Day 3

Survived my first Ōhope Fitness online class — and wow, that was a killer. My body was not ready 😵‍💫 but we got through it (just). Shout out to anyone who’s ever done squats on shaky legs.

Day 4

Rest day? Absolutely not. The sweat continues later today — and I’m feeling sore, but seriously motivated by all the aroha and donations coming in. Every drop of sweat is worth it for our rainbow communities.

Ngā mihi nui to everyone backing me. You’re all legends 💖

330 Minutes of Sweat & $320 Raised – Let’s Go! 💪🌈

Tuesday 3 June 2025

Kia ora! Just three days in and I’ve already smashed 330 minutes of sweat and raised $320 thanks to some absolutely legendary supporters — thank you so much! Every dollar goes towards supporting our rainbow communities, and I’m super proud to be sweating it out for such a good cause. 🏳️‍🌈🔥

Here’s how it’s gone so far:

Day 1:
Straight into it with a Doubles Tennis Tournament — 3 matches, 240 minutes on court, and came away with the win! 🏆 Sweaty, wind burnt, and stoked.

Day 2:
Back for more with an intense singles match. 90 minutes of running, rallying, and regretting yesterday’s workout choices. My legs are not okay. 😅

Day 3:
Trying something new — kicking off my first online class today with Ōhope Fitness. Will report back once I’ve done the class and recovered. Wish me luck!

Feeling the burn, loving the support, and stoked to keep this going. If you haven’t donated yet and want to help me support mental health, youth services, and gender-affirming care for our LGBTQIA+ whānau, hit that donate button!

More updates (and sweat) to come soon! 💦💦
