This is my fourth year sweating

I’m sweating to challenge myself, boost my wellbeing, and support a great cause!

Why I’m Sweating with Pride

I'm taking on Sweat with Pride this June! 💦🌈

Right now, some schools, workplaces, and even doctors’ offices aren’t safe for many in our community—and it’s putting lives at risk.

The most recent National Youth Survey, "What About Me?", revealed concerning mental health disparities among rainbow youth, who constitute 20% of young people surveyed. A staggering 26% of all youth considered suicide in the past year, with 12% attempting it and rainbow youth were disproportionately represented in these dire statistics, showing worse outcomes than any other group.  Additionally, rainbow youth reported a diminished sense of belonging and greater difficulty managing schoolwork than their peers.

The latest UNICEF Innocenti Report Card 19: Fragile Gains - Child Wellbeing at Risk in an Unpredictable World ranked New Zealand 32nd out of 36 countries for overall child wellbeing. It ranked Aotearoa last place for child and youth mental health. The report card showed New Zealand had the highest suicide rate for children out of the 36 OECD and EU countries, at a rate of almost three times higher than the average. It also showed that New Zealand's children face a major problem when it comes to bullying, with the second highest rate of children experiencing bullying out of the countries included (source: https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/561037/new-zealand-has-highest-child-suicide-rate-a-survey-of-wealthy-countries-shows published 15 My 2025)

So, I'm fighting discrimination with perspiration—exercising 21 minutes every day in June to raise money for life-changing Rainbow support services.

This cause means the world to me, and I’d be SO grateful if you could chip in to help me reach my goal. Every dollar makes a difference.

Thank you so much for your support! ❤️
