This is my first year sweating

I’m sweating to celebrate and uplift my Rainbow whānau

Why I’m Sweating with Pride

I'm taking on Sweat with Pride this June! 💦🌈

Right now, schools, workplaces, and even doctors’ offices aren’t safe for many in our community—and it’s putting lives at risk. LGBTQIA+ Kiwis face higher rates of mental illness, suicide, and STIs like syphilis, mpox, and HIV.

So, I'm fighting discrimination with perspiration—exercising 21 minutes every day in June to raise money for life-changing Rainbow support services.

This cause means the world to me, and I’d be SO grateful if you could chip in to help me reach my goal. Every dollar makes a difference.

Thank you so much for your support! ❤️

Nearly there, and loving it

Wednesday 25 June 2025

Here we are at day 25. I've surpassed my goal - kā mihi nui nui to all my sponsors/donors! I've raised more in this wonderful challenge than I usually donate each YEAR to the Burnett Foundation by $35, which means I've DOUBLED my annual donation by taking part.

I've been doing my usual barre and pilates sessions, and a few walks here and there, but the biggest change in my daily life is that I've been doing much, much more yoga. What a treat! My body is thanking me and I'm feeling grateful for the practice.

Well done ka rawe tautoko to all my fellow challengers! Kia kaha let's gooooo

Day one, June 1st.  Kicked off the challenge with an afternoon walk around the neighbourhood. Caversham, Forbury, Kew, and back to Caversham. Windy but sunny. Got that blood moving, listened to some Rick Astley, and definitely had a sweat on once I got back home. This is gonna be a good month!

Counting down!

As June approaches I am feeling super thankful for the donations I've received so far, and looking forward to motivating myself to do a little more exercise than usual. In these darkening autumnal times, I think moving my body is really going to help keep me in a positive frame of mind. Lack of sunlight can't catch me!
