Why I’m Sweating with Pride
Kia ora! I'm a queer woman and researcher who works on understanding emotional wellbeing.
Research by my team and many others shows that Rainbow young people are nearly three times as likely to experience mental illness because of the discrimination they face (Rentería et al., 2025).
But it doesn't have to be this way.
The Burnett Foundation, InsideOUT, RainbowYOUTH, and OutLine provide life-changing resources and support for Rainbow Kiwis.
So, this June I'm joining Sweat with Pride! 💦🌈
Together, we're fighting discrimination with perspiration—exercising 21 minutes every day in June to raise money for life-changing Rainbow support services.
