Why I’m Sweating with Pride
Hey Y'all,
Thinking back, you can probably remember a time someone bailed you out of a tough spot; and if you know me, you know others have to save my ass way more often than I'd like to admit.
I've had the incredible privilege of having access to amazing people and services throughout my schooling, my various trips through the health system, and pretty much everything else I've ever put time into in my life. I'm lucky.
But this absolutely isn't the case for everyone, especially queer people in Aotearoa.
Right now, schools, workplaces, and even doctors’ offices aren’t safe for many in our community—and it’s putting lives at risk. LGBTQIA+ Kiwis face higher rates of mental illness, suicide, and STIs like syphilis, mpox, and HIV.
So, it's kind of a no brainer. Let's support inclusive mental health services, sexual health services, and build a great community for everyone to be a part of and get the support they need!
If you can give up a drink or two at the clubs on Saturday night, or you have a couple bucks lying around, donate and put it to good use. We can do this.
