This is my fourth year sweating

I’m sweating to celebrate and uplift my Rainbow whānau

Why I’m Sweating with Pride

Folks, it's that time of year again!!! I'm taking on Sweat with Pride for the fourth time this June! 💦🌈

Right now, schools, workplaces, and even doctors’ offices aren’t safe for many in our rainbow communities—and it’s putting lives at risk. LGBTQIA+ Kiwis face higher rates of mental illness, suicide, and STIs like syphilis, mpox, and HIV.

So, I'm fighting discrimination with perspiration—exercising 60 minutes every day in June to raise money for life-changing Rainbow support services.

This cause means the world to me and so many people I love dearly, and I’d be SO grateful if you could chip in to help me reach my goal. Every dollar makes a difference.

Ramping up ready for June 1!

I've been slacking off a bit with my walking commute as the weather has gotten colder and rainier, but that changes June 1st!!! Back to the 4 x 20 minute walks to and from the train station...! 


The tricky days are going to be weekends when sweating isn't naturally built into my day - I will be playing badminton on Sundays, but Saturdays I might challenge myself to doing a different hike each weekend, maybe the Te Whiti Riser one - 3.7km one way, gentle climb, stunning views. I really enjoyed that back in February.

I'm also going away over Matariki weekend, and will be down in Blenheim with my friends. Might see if we can tackle some of the stunning walks they do, and hope for good weather.

I'm really missing my gym membership this year, as being able to exercise indoors was handy in the crap winter weather, but it adds a new challenge for me to consider. Might even redeem my 30 days of Les Mills online workouts and do some of those in my spare room at home if the weather sucks. Watch this space!!!
