Kia ora divas,
Happy Sweat With Pride 2026!!
I'm usually a Sweat With Pride donator but this June, I really wanted to take part & do something to contribute. Especially right now, this a super contentious time to be LGBTQIA+, there are constants attacks on the community, especially our trans whānau.
With the Legislation (Definitions of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill that the government are trying to push through the select committee, it really felt like the right time to spurn into action. (Please if you can't donate, make a submission against this bill before July 2nd https://www3.parliament.nz/en/pb/sc/make-a-submission/document/54SCSSC_SCF_9E8E8A14-A51C-4567-AB33-08DE9053A7D1/legislation-definitions-of-woman-and-man-amendment-bill)
As a bisexual diva, a fierce ally and active member of the drag and queer community, I wanted to do something tangible to help raise money because right now, schools, workplaces, and even doctors' offices aren't a safe space for many of our community. This is putting health and lives at risk. New Zealander's who identify as LGBTQIA+ face higher rates of mental illness, suicide, and STIs like syphilis, mpox and HIV.
So, I'm fighting discrimination with perspiration, logging my daily exercise with my best girl, Buffy, my border collie puppy, every day in June to raise money for life-changing Rainbow support services. She basically takes me for a walk so it's really her Sweat With Pride.
I know that times are tough for people right now, so please pay your bills first but if you do have some coin left over, donate to this very important cause instead? Pretty please, Buffy and I would be super grateful xo
Ngā mihi divas xo
