When I signed up to support Sweat with Pride this year, I had plans.
Three weeks before the challenge started, I broke two toes and injured my knee.
Needless to say, things haven't gone exactly as expected.
I had every intention of being more active myself and setting some personal goals alongside our team. Instead, I've spent the last few weeks discovering that almost everything in life somehow involves your toes.
Since my body wasn't interested in cooperating, I've changed my focus.
Rather than worrying about steps, kilometres, or exercise goals, I've been trying to make progress every day in whatever way I can. Sometimes that's getting out for a walk. Other times it's setting up the study in our new house, tackling jobs I've been putting off, or finally finishing projects that have been sitting around for far too long (including Darcy's shark cross-stitch, which has made a long-awaited return).
It might not be the challenge I imagined, but it's been a good reminder that progress doesn't have to look perfect to count.
The best part has been seeing the support for this cause. Thanks to the generosity of friends, family, colleagues, and some incredibly enthusiastic supporters, our team is currently sitting in the Top 10 fundraising teams.
To everyone who has donated so far: thank you. Your support means a lot.
And if you're considering donating, I'd be incredibly grateful. Every contribution helps support an important cause and the communities that benefit from it.
Broken toes, dodgy knee, unfinished cross-stitch and all, we're still moving forward.
