This is my first year sweating

I’m sweating to fight for equality, one sweaty session at a time!

Why I’m Sweating with Pride

I'm taking on Sweat with Pride this June! 💦🌈

Right now, schools, workplaces, and even doctors’ offices aren’t safe for many in our community—and it’s putting lives at risk. LGBTQIA+ Kiwis face higher rates of mental illness, suicide, and STIs like syphilis, mpox, and HIV.

So, I'm fighting discrimination with perspiration—exercising 60 minutes every day in June to raise money for life-changing Rainbow support services.

This cause means the world to me, and I’d be SO grateful if you could chip in to help me reach my goal. Every dollar makes a difference.

Thank you so much for your support! ❤️

Day 15: Lake Rotoroa

Sunday 15 June 2025
Blog image

Forgot to take any pics, but I think this is my fastest 6k so far by a fair margin. Maybe I was subconsciously making up for yesterday's comparatively leisurely stroll haha. Does of course help that this route was almost completely flat, but still! Half way there!

Day 14: Hamilton Gardens

Saturday 14 June 2025
Blog image

Just a nice afternoon walk around the gardens with my partner. Didn't go particularly fast or anything, but sometimes it's nice to spend more time and have a look around. :)

Day 13

Friday 13 June 2025

Happy Friday the 13th! My best k today was 10:06, definitely getting faster. :)

Day 12!

Hills still suck lol

Day 11

Wednesday 11 June 2025
Blog image

Had a poor mental health day yesterday so didn't manage to get out, but was back at it today, with a half hour swim, and a half hour and then some walking.

Day 9

Monday 9 June 2025
Blog image

Getting close to that 6 minute k! Stopped for a few minutes to help someone so the actual active time was 66 mins, which is what I've logged.

Day 8

Sunday 8 June 2025
Blog image

Just an easy walk around the neighbourhood this evening :)

Day 7: Western Rail Trail — night mode!

Saturday 7 June 2025

I also swam today, but it didn't feel sweaty enough so did a cheeky 6k walk home from the Greens budget event in the CBD tonight. Mauri ora!

Day 6: return of the walk

Friday 6 June 2025
Blog image

Today I had some errands to run, so made the most of it with 23 mins of walking around Chartwell and The Base (which would've been longer in truth but I'm putting what I remembered to record in google fit rather than guessing and risking short-changing ya). Then another walk around the neighbourhood parks this evening which was 52 mins as you see above. I was too busy to remember pics earlier in the day and this evening it was too dark, apologies! Will make up for it tomorrow, I'm sure. 😊

Day 5

Thursday 5 June 2025
Blog image

Today was give my poor feet a break day. 😅 I spent 34 minutes at the outdoor gym at the lake doing strength exercises, practiced at home my bokken (wooden sword) and jo (staff) kata from my aikido days (registered as karate/judo/tae kwon do as that was the closest option), and cooled down with another few minutes of stretches and body weight exercises. According to Google Fit I spent 62 move minutes for 81 heart points, and totalled 2248 steps today. Not a lot of distance progress to report, but plenty of sweat nonetheless. I'll take it. 😌

Day four: treadmill walk

Wednesday 4 June 2025

The weather sucked, so a friend kindly buzzed me in to the gym. Hill mode ofc. 💪 My feet are so sore. 😭

Day three: Till's Lookout and Taitua Arboretum

Tuesday 3 June 2025

The climb sucks, but you can't deny that view.

Day two!

Monday 2 June 2025

Just a cheeky sunset walk around the lake ✌🏻🌇

Thank you!

Sunday 1 June 2025

Thanks to everyone who donated for my birthday, I can't believe I've almost hit $200 already! And thanks for enduring my shameless posting about it, appreciate you all.
I walked over five k's today, spending over an hour getting sweaty on the first day of many. 💪
I'm really keen to hit that $500 goal, I think we can do it whānau!
Love and kisses ✨🫶🏻
