Why I’m Sweating with Pride
Support Sweat with Pride This June 💦🌈
This June, I’m taking on Sweat with Pride by exercising 60 minutes every day throughout Pride Month to help raise funds for vital Rainbow support services across Aotearoa.
To help get my sweat on, I’ll be walking Te Ara Tupua — Wellington’s newest shared walking and cycling path connecting Ngāuranga to Petone along the stunning harbour edge. The new 4.5km trail officially opened this month and creates a safer walking and cycling connection between Wellington and Lower Hutt.
Right now, many LGBTQIA+ people still don’t feel safe or supported in schools, workplaces, healthcare settings, and everyday life. As a result, Rainbow communities experience disproportionately higher rates of mental illness, suicide, and preventable illnesses including HIV, syphilis, and mpox.
This cause means a lot to me, and I’m proud to be supporting a movement that fights discrimination with perspiration 💛
